1. Tell us a little bit about yourself? What's your background?
My name is Larsell D. Stovall I was Born in Memphis Tennessee 1982 to Willie and Irene Stovall. I’m the 8th child of 16 siblings(including myself). 8 of them are my Biological siblings and 7 are adopted.
2. What kind of art do you do?
I do Graphite, Charcoal, Copic Marker and just started dabbling in paint as of last year. I’m starting to take a heavy liking in painting. Still have to learn my way around the brush but I’m determined to get better at it.
3. What/Who inspires you?
Life. Simply because it was a gift. I love seeing my peers create art it’s a beautiful thing.
4. Who are your biggest influences?
When it comes to drawing I would have to say my cousin Leslie Hall was my earliest influence using Graphite. As far as painting I must be honest I never even thought about trying it until I saw a painting from Kymberli Gaillard. Her paintings influenced me to give it a try. She did a few paintings for my Nephew Johnny Brown a.k.a Mac (stole my name lol) and they were beyond amazing. GREAT JOB Kym
5. How did you get started & for how long?
My mother says that I started trying to draw Mickey Mouse and other Disney Characters at age of 6 lol I can’t remember that far back. However I do remember at the age 8 tracing comic book characters that transitioned into actually looking at the photo trying to draw them. By the age 10 I thought I could draw anything my eyes gazed upon. So I’d say I’ve been into art for quite some time now.
6. Do you have any favorite pieces or piece?
I have a ton that I love but to name one I’d say Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Creation of Adam” just the detailing alone in that piece is mind blowing.
7. What kind of struggles have you faced as an artist & how did you overcome them?
Staying motivated in my art was a struggle for years. I took a huge hiatus from art for about 2 years. I felt there was no growth. It wasn’t until I started drawing with different types of Graphite that sparked the motivation to find growth within my art.
8. What kind of advice would you give to other artist?
Stay motivated and inspired.
9. What messages do you try to convey through your art?
Be the best you and let your imagination run free.
10. What are your goals? Where do you see your art in the future?
My goal is to inspire the genius within my peers. I see my art being an inspiration for up and coming artists to motivate them to bring out the best art from within.
